Why Am I Running for Trustee

SAJRD Authorized Issue 11 - Voters Be Informed

SAJRD Authorized Issue 11 - Voters Be Informed

  • Born and raised in Sylvania Township on McCord Rd was a priviledge.  All of our neighborhood parents  instilled in us a strong sense of civic pride, duty, and the honor  it was 'Being Part of Sylvania'.  Sylvania is a community to be charished, protected, and loved.
  • My career benefited from attending Sylvania Schools (Class of '71) and Owens Community College (Graduated in '74 & '95) which prepared me for a challenging career filled with opportunities to explore public service in government.  My lifetime career in government service and private sector consulting/marketing has prepared me for this challenge.  I ask for your vote on November 2, 2021!
  • My retirement provides me the time and my education, career, and life have prepared me  with the leadership and management skills I now offer to my hometown.  My plans include continuing the excellent  'Quality of Life' we all enjoy today and the challenges the future brings.
  • I pledge to serve my community to the best of my ability and provide for the public health, safety, and welfare of  all residents with respect, honor, dignity, and common  decency.
  • Having dealt with polio since the age of 2, many in Sylvania will remember when I walked with braces and crutches; now from my wheelchair I am running for Trustee; only in America could anyone have my opportunities.  I have followed the motto of Ohio my whole life 'With God All Things Are Possible'.

  • The Sylvania area is fortunate to have 12 dedicated residents that directs  our Parks & Recreation programs and facilities.  Our community enjoys a wide range of services, programs, and park facilities that many communities only dream of.    Thanks to our hardworking, dedicated fellow resident/board members, professional staffing, and the support of our taxpayers.
  • If you honor me with your vote on November 2nd, as one of your Township Trustee's,  I pledge to support the SAJRD Board in their efforts to serve our community.  I will always offer my expertise, knowledge, and assistance in obtaining their goals and objectives.
  • The SAJRD Board is proposing a new Multigenerational Community Center and I encourage all residents to review and consider their recommendations and plans carefully.  Remember that Parks & Recreation are an investment in our future as a community!     You can learn more about the proposed facility by clicking this link:  SAJRD website
  • Issue 11:   The Sylvania Area Joint Recreation Board has authorized a proposed additional property tax levy for the purpose of constructing, furnishing and equipping a new multigenerational community facility and otherwise constructing, renovating, remodeling, furnishing, equipping and otherwise improving district buildings and facilities and acquiring, clearing, improving and equipping their sites, 2.56 Mills bond issue repayment, 28 years, first due in calendar year 2022.  Be informed on Issue 11, it your community and your taxes, know the facts - Press Here for a direct link to the plans.
  • Realtor.com has a median home in Sylvania Twp at $260K, Issue 11 would increase taxes by $232.96 annually or .64 cents per day.  Voters have a voice on whether this is an investment they want for our community on November 2nd, be informed and vote!
  • My official position on Issue 11, is let the people vote and I will abide by their decision!  As a potential  community leader I must represent all residents.  I cannot be yes or no, until the people have spoken on November 2nd.  Think of it, if a representative attempts to dictate a position they would not be representing all the people!  On November 3rd, if elected, I will know the people's decision, to attempt to do otherwise would be dictatorial and that I cannot do.  I can assure voters that I will  obey the peoples decision and what the Law authorize me to do, for I must answer to God.  There is an oath of office, I will honor my oath now as I will if elected; it is called integrity and honoring my word!

  • If there is an officially authorized  group or PAC opposing Issue 11 that has a website, I would be happy to put a link right here on my website.  I encourage all voters to be informed and excercise their right to vote!

Transparency and Accountability

SAJRD Authorized Issue 11 - Voters Be Informed

Transparency and Accountability

  • In my experience public communications and accurate reporting are no accident.  They require hardwork, diligence, and committment to excellence.  Our Township has done an excellent job for the residents in the areas of transparency and accountability.  This requires constant vigilance, checks and balances, and informed residents.
  • I pledge full transparency and accountability as your representative and promise to observe the 'Rule of Law' and the proper chain of command at all times.   I promise never to abuse the authority of the position of Township Trustee and never resort to bullying or intimidating the public, our public servants, or my fellow trustee's.
  • All Township meetings are recorded and available to the public.  I encourage all residents to be informed by listening and asking questions of our elected representatives.  For example, listen to the last Township Trustee meeting's online.  Trustee Meeting on August 17, 2021-Press Here .
  • If the character of your elected representative is important, I recommend listening to the September 21, 2021 Trustee Meeting, starting around 22:00 minutes - Press Here to listen.
  • Sylvania Township provides a well constructed, current,  and informative website.  I highly recommend all residents visit often!  Information is the currency of democracy, as Thomas Jefferson said.  Press Here to learn more about our township.
  • It is challenging to expand on excellence but if you vote for me on November 2, 2021, I pledge to be diligent and hardworking, which is a character trait I have always strived toward.

Economic Development

Economic Development

Economic development is a process requiring businesses willing to invest capital, land use planning & zoning, creative and critical thinking, and the involvement of governmental leadership to promote a positive environment in which businesses can grow with our community.

  • Your community must have great educational systems in place; we have great schools in Sylvania with professional educators.
  • Your community must have great public service facilities and infrastructure in place and maintained.
  • A place where public safety forces/first responders and programs exist to promote a safe community with a ‘quality of life’ that everyone supports and appreciates.
  • A place that other people want to belong and  a community where people can fulfill their dreams of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

Mary Ellen Withrow, a former U S Treasurer, has a saying ‘Yesterday is a cancelled check, tomorrow is a promissory note, and today is cash in hand, so spend it wisely’. I am asking voters to Invest in Sylvania’s future by voting for Loren Sengstock on November 2nd.

My goal is to keep  Sylvania a community were entrepreneurs are eager and willing to invest their capital, bring their family and raise their children; a community where you can hire educated, hardworking employees; with a business environment that generates profits and positive cash flows that intern allow the continued growth of our educational systems, recreational facilities, and promotes public safety and services which encourages participation and involvement in sharing the common goals and aspirations of a free society.

  • How is Loren Sengstock going to help promote these great ideas of economic development?By working hard to promote the Sylvania area as the community you want to become part of and invest your capital and life raising a family and educating your children in a safe and happy environment with exceptional ‘quality of life’ values and services;

By working with the business community and encouraging equitable economic incentives, like the JEDD’s and other economic tools to entice employers and business to come to Sylvania and be part of our special community.

  • By working with other communities to promote the Toledo Metropolitan area as the first choice of employers when looking for communities like ours in which to locate, relocate, or startup the businesses they have always dreamed of.
  • Above all I believe in this old adage of Zig Ziglar that ‘Nothing happens in this World or our community, until someone sells someone else something’.

Campaign promises are often made and seldom followed thru on. My promise to my fellow citizens, I will do my very best to promote the ‘Sylvania’ area and work hard for my community by being a leader whom you will be proud to say, ‘I voted for that guy’. I am asking for your vote on November 2ndfor Loren Sengstock and I promise to never make us a laughing stock.
